Evesham Regatta

Two Dartmouth scullers flew the flag for Dartmouth Amateur rowing Club at Evesham Regattas. On Saturday the 1000mtr course having to be shortened to the 500mtr sprint course due to the high water levels on the river. Michael Tilley started the day with his first row at J15 but narrowly lost out in his heat. Samantha had a bye in her first J18 heat only to loose out in her semi final. The afternoons heats saw better results for Michael in the J16 class winning his heat and the final with Samantha also winning her Senior4 heat and final.

Sunday saw an excellent start for Michael winning two heats to get to the semi-final of the J15 which was a dead heat only to loose the re-row by a third of a length. Samantha then had her J18 heat only to come second to possibly Staines Rowing club’s best sculler. “I was exceptionally pleased I only lost this race by a few lengths. Last year she pulled that distance away from me by half way.” The afternoon only saw Michael rowing as Samantha did not have a race due to moving up a status after her previous days win at Sernio4. Michael came a close second in his heat at J16 but by now the strain of eight races in only two days was beginning to show. Altogether a good show by the two Dartmouth scullers, with promise for the new season.
